Virtual Building Modeling Software Recognized as Top Architectural CAD Technology for Second Consecutive Year
Newton, Mass./Budapest, December 13, 2002 – Graphisoft®, developer of the Virtual Building™ concept, today announced it was honored with CADENCE Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for Archicad®8, the Company’s model-based design technology for architects and building design professionals. Announced in the magazine’s December 2002 issue, the award recognizes CAD software and software providers that have raised the standard of excellence within the CAD community.
“In selecting candidates for the Editor’s Choice award, we examined the innovation and quality of the technology, as well as the product’s impact on CAD professionals, among other criteria,” said Arnie Williams, editor-in-chief, CADENCE Magazine. “Archicad®8 exemplifies the advancements and qualifications for this award, and we commend Graphisoft for its accomplishments in Virtual Building modeling technology.”
With Archicad, users develop an intelligent Virtual Building model that supports the entire planning, design, construction and management process. Based on parametric technology, the 3D model-based design software manages all building objects and components within a project. As a result, architects using Archicad can create building data that provides value throughout the lifecycle of a building. Unveiled this past fall, Archicad®8 delivers enhanced documentation management and new tools for solids modeling and Boolean operations. Top new features and capabilities in the latest release of the software include a Detail Tool that speeds work in 2D, state-of-the-art document layout management and a streamlined interface.
“The editors at CADENCE Magazine really have their fingers on the pulse of what’s new and innovative in the design software world,” said Chris Barron, vice president, architecture, for Graphisoft US. “For them to distinguish Archicad®8 in this way is indeed an honor.”
