TOKYO, March 28, 2018 – Nikken Sekkei and GRAPHISOFT have reached an agreement to continue and extend their strategic partnership for the promotion of BIM from 2018 to 2022 – originally launched in 2013 – with a special focus on developing next-generation BIM workflows.
The first phase of the partnership resulted in an array of additional and improved functionality of Archicad. In the next phase, Graphisoft will continue to incorporate Nikken Sekkei’s knowledge and experience in the development of Archicad, with the partnership expanding into a jointly-developed, next-generation BIM workflow that utilizes the entire GRAPHISOFT product ecosystem.
“As members of this strategic partnership since 2013, we are pleased to have played an important role in the evolution of GRAPHISOFT’s products and the development of BIM in the construction industry. We are looking forward to working on the next generation of the design process,” said Tomohiko Yamanashi, Nikken Sekkei’s Senior Executive Officer and Deputy Chief of the Architectural Design Department.
GRAPHISOFT is also committed to providing Nikken Sekkei easier access to the tools and technology of the Archicad BIM platform through a software license agreement that will enable Nikken Sekkei to develop and use the new design process.
“We are very satisfied with the first phase of our partnership with Nikken Sekkei. Working with one of the world’s top architectural design practices has provided us with an unparalleled opportunity to witness cutting-edge design workflow first-hand,” said Viktor Várkonyi, Graphisoft CEO. “We have learned a great deal from Nikken Sekkei already, and I am convinced that together we can really make a difference in the future of the BIM design workflow,” he added.
According to Bence Kovács, Graphisoft Vice President for Asia, “The software improvements born out of the cooperation with Nikken Sekkei have played a critical role in our success in expanding in Japan and Asia in the last few years. I am sure that the know-how emerging from the next phase will be equally well-received by our users in the Asia-Pacific region.”
