SPA Recognizes Archicad For Teamwork as Best Groupware Product
San Francisco, Calif. (March 25, 1998)
The Software Publishers Association (SPA) held the
industry’s own version of the Academy Awards — The 13th Annual Codie Awards — on Monday, March 23 in
San Jose, CA. SPA’s 1998 Awards for Excellence in Software honors software publishers worldwide for
outstanding creativity and innovation in 1997. Graphisoft U.S. President Tamás Hajas accepted the
diamond-shaped crystal and granite Codie honoring Archicad for Teamwork as Best Groupware Product from
among a field of nominees that included Claris Corp.’s Filemaker Pro.
“This award acknowledges our achievements and our commitment to next generation CAD applications.” says
Tamás Hajas, president of Graphisoft U.S. “Graphisoft has now been recognized as a leader in the
collaborative arena.”
The Codie Awards encompass software for any type of consumer use including business, educational,
entertainment, consumer, enterprise and online applications. Final judging was determined by SPA’s 1,200
international companies, completing the software industries only peer-recognition program to reward
outstanding achievement. A total of 94 companies and 172 titles competed for the final round of judging
and 39 awards. Though other CAD titles were nominated including two Autodesk consumer products, none but
Archicad for Teamwork was recognized with a Codie.
“Winning a Codie Award signifies recognition and quality unsurpassed in the marketplace from hundreds of
peers throughout the software industry, the most critical audience of all,” said Ken Wasch, SPA
president. “When considering a new software purchase, consumers should look to Codie Award winners for
the latest in cutting-edge technology and the best overall products available today.”
SPA is the principal trade association of the software industry, representing the leading publishers as
well as start-up firms in the business, home office, consumer, entertainment and education markets. SPA
