BUDAPEST, November 13, 2013 – GRAPHISOFT has announced that the team of Archicad clients Rice Daubney of Australia and Obayashi of Japan have won the award for Best Use of BIM for Design, Drama, and Excitement at the recent Build Sydney Live event.

The 48-hour event challenged participants from around the world to design a new International Convention Centre for Sydney as part of the specified 19 Hectare area of Darling Harbour Live project. Run virtually using mobile technology from a sailboat in Darling Harbour October 28-30, Build Sydney Live 2013 was the 5th edition of Build Live global collaborative OpenBIM events. More than 40 countries were represented by 19 teams.
Darren Tims of Rice Daubney said, “Build Sydney Live 2013 was a great opportunity for Rice Daubney to collaborate with our friends at Obayashi in Tokyo to produce a BIM in 48 hours. It was exciting, if somewhat tiring, and we are delighted to win the award for Best Use of BIM for Design, Drama, and Excitement.”

The brief included strict requirements for the design development and presentation materials. “Winning the award proved that Teamwork works well in international collaboration with 48-hour intensive access to the central model. We hope this experience will lead to expanding our business in the global market,” said Obayashi’s Tetsu Kondo.
