Drawbase’s CAFM Expertise Will Deliver ArchiFM to US Market
San Francisco, CA/Budapest, Hungary – April 3, 2000 – Graphisoft announced today that it
has acquired Drawbase Software, a computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) software
and services provider, for a purchase price of close to $2 million. Drawbase, based in
Newton, Mass., will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Graphisoft U.S. Inc.
Drawbase’s CAFM solutions, employed internationally in the healthcare, financial, real estate,
architectural, educational, communications and government sectors, will be complemented by
Graphisoft’s ArchiFM™ 2000. Based on Archicad® and the Virtual Building™ concept,
Graphisoft’s new facilities management tool is currently available in Europe and is scheduled
for release in the United States later this year.
“As we continue to develop Virtual Building technologies that link all aspects of a building’s
lifecycle, CAFM is a priority,” says Graphisoft U.S. Inc. President Tamás Hajas. “With
Graphisoft’s Archicad technology at the core, we’ll speed the migration of CAFM from 2D to
3D and to object and Web-based solutions.”
“With the proliferation of project websites, we expect the number of architects who offer
facilities management services to grow both as a result of the Internet’s influence and in
response to customer demand. With an Archicad-based FM solution, we’ll be ideally
positioned to serve a much larger architectural CAFM market. At the same time, we’ll be able
to provide our customers and prospects with a wider range of solutions,” states Drawbase
President Al Moulton.
The purchase price includes performance-dependent components, the attainment of which
cannot be guaranteed by either party.
