Live Webinar

Hear from Lloyd Architects as they discuss their latest award-winning adaptive reuse project – The Granary SLC.

In the railroad district of Salt Lake City sits a 19th-century warehouse that has been given new life as a 21st-century destination – now known as The Granary SLC.

The renovation has received the 2022 Community Stewardship Award for Adaptive Reuse from Preservation Utah (PUT). PUT recognized the project for representing a significant effort to revitalize what was once a busy manufacturing hub for heavy industry. Widely considered a noteworthy adaptive reuse project in a redeveloping part of town, the campus consists of outdoor recreation, fashion, art, culture, and music.

In this live event, Warren Lloyd and Aaron Day from Lloyd Architects (named 2022 AIA Utah Firm of the Year) discussed the process of creating The Granary Campus, with topics including:

  • The site and historic location constraints
  • Using LiDAR to scan the existing site
  • Importing and using Point Clouds as a basis for the design
  • Using interactive visualizations to convey design concepts
  • Managing collaboration between architectural and engineering teams
