Leading Central European Oil Company Makes ArchiFM the Next Generation in Its IT Strategy

Hungarian Oil and Gas Limited (MOL) implements Graphisoft’s ArchiFM to manage its entire countrywide facilities, covering 1 million sq. meters of office space

Budapest, November 21, 2001 – Streamlining IT for MOL, the largest company in Hungary Graphisoft and Axis Information Technology Ltd. have contracted to develop a complete system to integrate the company’s SAP-based financial management system and maintenance tasks for its diversified holdings countrywide. Finding a system that is both flexible and adaptable to the existing IT systems was key in the decision to implement ArchiFM. Using ArchiFM 7.0 and ArchiFM WebServer, all building-related information for MOL’s 6,000 properties with 3,500 buildings – graphic visualizations, 3D models, as-built documentation – are accessible in an integrated database via the company’s Intranet.

The winner of 18 companies invited to tender, Graphisoft will develop a highly complex system based on its Virtual Building concept to manage MOL’s entire countrywide facilities with remote access via the Intranet with bi-directional information flow. MOL also required a solution that could be integrated with the existing SAP accounting systems for real estate and cost control, as well as significantly raise the efficiency of facility maintenance. The combination of ArchiFM’s graphical user interface, and quick and easy data input were key to the decision.
“Today a company of MOL’s size can only maintain a competitive edge through the use of world-class technological tools at the highest professional level, in all operational segments,” said Zsolt Hernádi, president and CEO of MOL Inc. “This applies especially to facility management, where decisions of an extremely high financial impact are made, and fast and precise information is crucial. That’s why we weighed our options carefully to determine the best technology, and as our company targets the position of a regional market leader, it’s also a personal delight for me to see Graphisoft as the leader in an international technological competition.”
Graphisoft’s integrated solution allows facility managers to plan and schedule relocation of employee groups among the offices, maintenance and other facility management tasks with up-to-date information. Managers can view office space statistics, manage maintenance tasks, create lists, inquiry furniture and control their tasks related to each department for more effective decision-making.
“After careful market analysis and survey of top-of-the-line FM software, we decided on Graphisoft’s ArchiFM. Evaluating several competitive solutions on the market in several rounds of competition, it became clear that Graphisoft’s ArchiFM provides the best development solution to meet the new facility management strategy of MOL,” said Balázs J. Barts, FM director of MOL.
“To develop a winning product you need two things: excellent developers and demanding customers. We’re very proud that Hungary has for a long time provided well in the first, but less known is that we’re rich in the second as well,” said Gábor Bojár, president and CEO of Graphisoft, referring to MOL’s extremely demanding tender. “Integrated accounting systems, which serve companies’ financial management directly, became widespread in the world’s developed countries 10-20 years ago. The next step is facility management, which is today one of the fastest growing IT markets. Of the highest level IT applications, the leading Hungarian companies are among the top, as illustrated in the recent Financial Times published ranks. That’s why we think it’s important, that the largest Hungarian company in terms of revenue relies on our technology.”
