Architectural Record magazine and AEC CAD software developer Graphisoft have released the “Record Houses ’98” CD-ROM, the third volume in a series that chronicles the magazine’s annual Record Houses.
The CD presents an interactive multimedia tour of the seven homes featured in the April 1998 issue using images created with Graphisoft’s Archicad software and state-of-the-art QuickTime virtual reality (VR) technology. A combination of detailed floor plans, sections and elevations combined with VR tours, video-taped interviews, and photographs illustrate the design and materials of the houses with impressive detail.
“The Record Houses CD-ROM let’s readers ‘visit’ the houses, giving them intimate views of the architecture and its details,” observes Sarah Amelar, a senior editor at Architectural Record. “Graphisoft’s multimedia approach works particularly well in bringing each house alive.”
Architectural Record is the industry’s only publication to utilize a “virtual reality” approach to showcasing their most-read and anticipated issue of the year.
