Graphisoft’s Virtual Building Modeling Software Recognized as Top Architectural CAD Technology
Newton, Mass. – July 14, 2003 – Graphisoft®, developer of the Virtual Building™ concept, today announced that Archicad® 8, the Company’s model-based design technology for architects and building design professionals, was awarded CADENCE Magazine’s Editors’ Choice Award for the third consecutive year. Announced in the magazine’s July 2003 issue, the award recognizes CAD software and software providers that have raised the standard of excellence within the CAD community.
“Graphisoft has led the pack for a number of years with the building model as central database – a concept it calls the Virtual Building,” said Arnie Williams, editor-at-large at CADENCE. “In addition to its best-in-class development, Graphisoft has driven the industry to adhere to Industry Foundation Classes criteria, making Archicad one of the most interoperable products with building industry add-ons.”
With Archicad, users develop an intelligent Virtual Building model that supports the entire planning, design, construction and management process. Based on parametric technology, the 3D model-based design software manages all building objects and components within a project. As a result, architects using Archicad can create building data that provide value throughout the lifecycle of a building. Unveiled this past fall, Archicad 8 delivers enhanced documentation management and new tools for solid operations for easy modeling of custom objects. Top new features and capabilities in the latest release of the software include a detail tool that speeds work in 2D, state-of-the-art document layout management and a streamlined interface.
“Once again, CADENCE Magazine has recognized Graphisoft Archicad 8 for its outstanding product and industry leadership,” said Chris Barron, vice president, architecture, for Graphisoft US. “Our worldwide customer base continues to benefit from our innovation, interoperability and customer support.”
