The “Archicard/Forward to Subscription” conversion program is designed as a multi-year initiative. The current Phase 2 terms are valid until September 30, 2026. Market-specific terms and conditions may apply.
Archicad licenses without an active service contract (Archicard/Forward) cannot currently be converted as part of the conversion program. Graphisoft may, at its sole discretion, offer direct conversions for such licenses at a later date.
Customers can choose not to participate in the conversion program and continue using their perpetual Archicad license (s) after their service contract expires, either without service contract coverage or with an extended service contract. Customers with a service contract term extending beyond September 30, 2026, should contact their Graphisoft partner. (See also Question 20.)
DDScad is not part of the current conversion program. Graphisoft may offer a similar conversion program for DDScad in the future.
Archicard/Forward customers can convert their service contract licenses into annually billed 3-year or 1-year Archicad Studio subscriptions at the end of their service contract term.
- 3-year subscription: Conversion based on your current service contract terms (no surcharge). Annual price adjustments are capped at 8% and remain fixed until 2029.
- 1-year subscription: Conversion based on your current service contract terms plus 8%. Annual price adjustments are capped at 8% and remain fixed until 2029.
Optionally, Archicard/Forward customers can choose to convert to Archicad Collaborate instead. The surcharge for Archicad Collaborate is EUR 300 per license and year, in addition to the respective Archicad Studio conversion price.
Service contract license pools must be converted as a whole (all-or-nothing principle).
Graphisoft is committed to transparent, moderate annual adjustments and does not plan any sudden or disproportionate price changes after the conversion. For more information, please read the CEO’s full statement .

Archicad Studio is a complete BIM solution offered as a subscription product, designed for independent work or local Teamwork. It includes all the benefits of a full Archicad license on a modern subscription platform.

For customers who convert within the applicable timeframe, the converted subscriptions will be renewed under comparable terms. Until 2029, the annual price adjustment is capped at 8%; thereafter, Graphisoft commits to adjustments of a similar magnitude, but without a specific percentage guarantee.
Customers can choose to revert their licenses to perpetual licenses until 2028. In this case, the perpetual licenses will be updated to the current perpetual license version — but without future service contract coverage.
No. Customers who choose not to participate in the conversion program will revert to the perpetual license model without a service contract and will not have the option to restart the conversion program at a later date.
When participating in the conversion program, customers receive one subscription license for each perpetual Archicad license. To ensure backward compatibility for older projects, Graphisoft also provides so-called compatibility licenses (Archicad 30, perpetual license). Please note: Subscription and compatibility licenses cannot be used simultaneously — at any given time, you use either one license or the other. Compatibility licenses are non-transferable and may not be sold or rented to third parties.
One advantage of the conversion program is file compatibility dating back to Archicad 8.1: The converted perpetual licenses remain with you as Archicad 30 perpetual licenses. This allows you to open and edit projects that are up to 15 years old.
Archicad Collaborate subscriptions purchased prior to the conversion are independent of the conversion program. Graphisoft’s standard subscription terms (including regular pricing) continue to apply to these licenses.
Yes. Graphisoft’s subscription products utilize modern cloud licensing technology. Licenses can be freely assigned to individuals via the Graphisoft license management portal. In addition, both Archicad Studio and Archicad Collaborate customers can assign their licenses to a group of users as a license pool; users then obtain licenses on a first-come, first-served basis. Named cloud licences can also be used offline for up to 7 days.
By “private cloud,” we mean hosting BIMcloud on your own servers (on-premises) — in a data center of your choice or even in your own office. Graphisoft is working on a solution to offer this option using the same cloud licensing technology, including a “bring your own license” feature: Users can collaborate as guests on another BIMcloud while using their own office’s license. Graphisoft will announce a specific timeline at a later date.
Graphisoft generally only offers the conversion of Archicard/Forward licenses on the renewal date. Customers whose service contract term extends beyond September 30, 2026, should contact their Graphisoft partner to discuss the options for their specific situation.
A perpetual license means that you have the right to use the software version for which you purchased the license for an unlimited period of time. Any Archicad perpetual license purchased beforeDecember 31, 2025, entitles you to use the software “as is” as long as you have compatible hardware and a compatible operating system. The counterpart to the perpetual license is not the “cloud license” (this is a technical solution – see Question 17), but the subscription license : It entitles you to use the current software version as long as you have an active subscription.
Cloud licensing is a technical solution for software licensing. The license is hosted by Graphisoft in the cloud; the customer manages access via a license management portal. By default, cloud licenses are “named” licenses, i.e., assigned to a specific user. Graphisoft also offers network/floating licensing for Archicad Collaborate customers. The following table provides an overview of the different types of licenses and licensing technologies:

Yes. Licensing regulates access to the software, not to the content created with it. An Archicad version with a cloud license can open projects that were created with physical, key-based licenses – and vice versa. The same applies to perpetual licences and subscription licences. Offices with a mixed license pool (perpetual license and subscription) can therefore open the same project and work on it together.
Subscriptions generally enable a more flexible provision of innovations and bug fixes. However, this means no forced updates – it is still up to the customer to decide when to update. This also allows you to keep Archicad installations with different licenses on the same build level and ensure project compatibility.
Service contracts (Archicard/Forward) are managed until the end of their term, at the latest until the third quarter of 2027. Market-specific terms and conditions may apply.

Individual subscription contracts (licenses purchased at the same time) can currently only be managed as a unit. This means: A conversion applies to all licenses of the same contract. If you purchase additional subscriptions, an additional contract will be created. The current list price applies to additional or new subscriptions.
Graphisoft has a dedicated support team to help customers migrate from existing BIMcloud installations to BIMcloud SaaS. Offices with smaller or simple BIMcloud environments receive migration guides; offices with larger or more complex configurations receive personal migration support at an agreed time.
