Course Outline

This course is designed to introduce students to Building Information Modelling (BIM) software and its use in interior design projects. The course will cover the workflow and basic modelling skills required to create and manage interior design projects using BIM software. The course will focus on the design process of office space from the initial brief to final delivery, presenting an actual interior design project created with BIM-enabled tools. Upon course completion, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued).

  1. Design Brief Introduction
  2. Basic layout modelling
    • Walls, Floors and Ceiling Finishes
    • Zones
    • Furniture (Archicad’s Object Library)
  3. Advanced modelling
    • Alternative use of Complex profiles/ Beams/ Columns/ Walls/ Slabs to create custom furniture (Cabinets or Feature Wall – 1 per class)
    • Apply materials, surfaces.
  4. Documentation
    • Plan, Section, Elevation
    • Detail (2D detail)
    • Scheduling (Furniture quantities, Zone area, Paint Surface Area)
    • Layout book & Publisher: Export PDF, DWG
  5. Export model for render & BIMx
  6. Q&A
