Graphisoft to Release Zoom GDL

New 3D modeler will enable fast, flexible and efficient custom object creation

Budapest, November 30, 2000 – Graphisoft, developer of the Virtual Building™ concept of 3D architectural design and facility management, today announced the release of Zoom GDL, a powerful new tool for 3D object creation.

Developed by Paris-based software company Abvent, in cooperation with Graphisoft, this cross-platform solid modeler creates parametric building elements that can be easily placed and edited in Archicad and ArchiFM 2000 as library parts. Abvent has more than 15 years of experience developing modeling and visualization software for architects and design professionals, including Artlantis Render, the high-end rendering solution for Archicad.
With the speed, simplicity and flexibility of Artlantis, and an interface similar to Archicad, Zoom GDL extends the potential of GDL to novice object creators and expands the tools available to experts. Using classic design tools such as extrusion, piping, and surfaces, Zoom GDL users can create an exhaustive range of architectural elements, including such complex shapes as soft chairs and metal curtain walls.
Currently in use by tens of thousands of building design professionals, Graphisoft’s GDL technology is also used by building product manufacturers to create electronic product catalogs for distribution on the Internet or CD-ROM.
«GDL is the backbone of Graphisoft products, and is what makes them smarter and more versatile than other CAD and CAFM solutions on the market,» said Gábor Kazár, Graphisoft’s vice president of sales and marketing. «By providing our users with tools like Zoom GDL, we put even more design power in their hands. Zoom GDL will also prove to be an excellent resource for product manufacturers.»
Zoom GDL will be available from Graphisoft, the exclusive worldwide publisher, from early 2001.
Graphisoft previously released the GDL Object Tools to make GDL object viewing and publishing available to everyone. Visit the GDL Object Center at gdl.graphisoft.com for more information.
