New Zealand's First 5-Star Green Building with Archicad

Budapest, February 26th, 2008 – With the Government mandating the use of the Green Star NZ tools from the New Zealand Green Building Council, there has been a market shift towards buildings that are economically, socially and environmentally beneficial for both owners and users. Meridian Energy’s new Wellington waterfront building, designed in Archicad by Studio Pacific, is expected to consume 60% less energy and 70% less water than comparable buildings.

The building features solar hot water, heat recovery systems, intelligent and addressable lighting controls, mixed mode ventilation (including chilled beams), an active external façade and a rainwater collection system for water re-use within the building. «The primary business benefit we experienced by using Archicad on this project was the availability and implementation of a 3D model approach right from the start», says Marc Woodbury, of Studio Pacific. «Archicad simply helps us to visualize the design better, and thus develop the design for a better result».
