Japanese High-Tech Giant Invests in Hungary


CSK, a leading Japanese information technology group and Nippon Investment and Financing Co. Ltd. (NIF) purchase minority interest in Graphisoft, based in Budapest, Hungary. Graphisoft develops Archicad, an architectural CAD software that has achieved significant marketshare worldwide.
CSK Group, with an aggregated revenue of USD 6 billion, and Graphisoft, a USD 15 million company, have been co-operating for one year. A member of the CSK group uses the 3D technology of Graphisoft on an OEM basis.
The deal was helped by Daiwa Securities, who has a strong position on the East-European investment market.
CSK invests USD 5.5 million and NIF USD 2 million in Graphisoft. The company will use part of the money to establish an International Information Technology Park in Budapest, open to vendors who want to profit from the software development potential of Hungary.
