Library Part Maker 22

The improved Library Part Maker 22 (LPM) is a new version of Archicad add-on that simplifies and streamlines the creation of custom GDL-based Library parts. It offers an interactive Library element creation tool without any knowledge of GDL programming. Let us show you how to create a custom window and an object with scale sensitive 2D Symbols. Populating these objects with the “One-click” import of data from spreadsheets to increase data quality.

Interoperability and AC21 New features recap

The aim of this month’s Webinar will be to recap AC21 new features. Apart from thematic feature developments and performance improvements, Archicad 21 contained a number of fixes, UI changes and renamed controls, all aimed at improving your user experience in small but useful ways. Many of which get forgotten in a normal working week.

We will also recap on the interoperability side of Archicad, Managing imports and exports and looking at class detection.

Interoperability and Archicad 21 New features recap

Archicad 21 Part 1: Stairs and Railing

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

Our next 3 webinars will review the new features available with the introduction of Archicad 21:

  • Part 1: Stairs and Railing – creating commonly used stairs.
  • Part 2: IFC related features including hotlinks, translators and templates plus Classification
    Manager.
  • Part 3: Grasshopper and BIMx.

Archicad 21 Part 1: Stairs and Railing

This webinar is a short overview of the various Stair Construction Methods and explains the role of Stair Sub-Elements.
Archicad 21 introduced a brand-new Stair Tool, to design and document any typical or unique Stair. Input is available on the Floor Plan and in the 3D window, using methods like poly line or Wall input. During the poly line path input, instant graphical feedback shows what the resulting Stair will look like.

An Introduction in to the Energy Model Review Palette

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This webinar will look at how to Monitor the entire project’s energy performance. You will learn how
to control and optimize the behaviour of spaces independently through the use of Eco Designer Star.

An Introduction in to the Energy Model Review Palette

Creating Custom Panels

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This pre-Christmas extra UAS webinar is about Custom Panels with different tools of Archicad 21.

With the help of short examples, you will learn how to create custom shape windows with the so called “wallhole” setting.

We will also create a special door panel and use it with a default door object. Then we will compare
the difference between built-in and custom railing panels and finally we will create a special curtain wall panel.

Creating Custom and profiled Treads & Risers

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

There are some situations when you would like to add some custom components to your library parts. In these cases, you can create your own custom components, as well as using the ones from the Archicad Library.

Since the introduction of the new Stair and Railing tools in Archicad 21, Tread and Riser library elements can now be easily created giving you the ability to create just what you require.

This webinar will take users through the process of creating these Custom and profiled Treads and Risers.

Basic Stairs and Bullnose Steps ‘How To’

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

With the introduction of the new Stair Tool in Archicad 21, we decided to cover this in our UAS webinars. For this webinar, we will cover the basic settings of the stair tool and how you can create a simple straight, L and U shaped stair.

We will also detail how to make adjustments for the steps and landings, and finally how to add a bullnose as decoration.

CineRender Advanced Render Settings

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This webinar will cover the advanced settings within CineRender with advice on how you can achieve
the best results when rendering within Archicad.

We will be building on knowledge gained from the previous two webinars to extend your understanding
of the rendering aspect of Archicad. We will also be exploring Lighting within the CineRender
palette and the different settings you can control to achieve decent quality renders.

Finally, we’ll look at how some of these settings affect the time taken to create this higher quality
output and how you can focus on the most important controls to get the results you need.

Rendering with Archicad — 2

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This webinar will cover the Material Surface settings to understand how to apply different shaders to the relevant channels. By combining multiple shaders within single channels you can enhance your material surfaces immensely.

Using the CineRender engine alone isn’t enough to achieve high quality results. You will need to combine the use of Surface settings in conjunction with the CineRender settings to achieve enhanced renders.

Rendering with Archicad — Part 2

Rendering with Archicad

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

The focus of this Cinerender Webinar will be to give the new/novice users of Cinerender an understanding of the basic settings within Cinerender.

We will be explaining the simple interface of the Cinerender palette and where the relevant settings can be found e.g. changing the size of the rendered image, the preview window and the main rendering controls. We will be covering each setting within the rendering palette in detail, so, that the user understands what they are changing and the knock-on effects of altering these settings.

This webinar will look at what components/hardware will be required and used while rendering. We will also give example rendering times to give the users an idea of how long different types of render, will take.

Rendering with Archicad - Part 1

Graphical Overrides

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This webinar will look at the new Property Manager working in combination with the Graphical
Overrides to apply a predefined appearance to model elements so as to convey information at
a glance.

Examples of what will be covered are:

  • Display elements in different colours based on their Renovation Status
  • Highlight all elements having a specific acoustic rating or fire rating
  • Highlight a group of zones which belong together (e.g. unheated areas)
  • Check the consistency of the model
Graphical Overrides

Attributes – Pen sets, Textures & Surfaces

We ran another webinar for UAS customers.

This webinar will guide you through how to control and use pen sets. How to create and use textures to produce Archicad surfaces that work with the Cinema Render engine and finally look at attributes as a whole and how to deal with them when we get in to hot linking projects together.

Attributes - Pen sets, Textures & Surfaces

Attributes – Lines, Fills and Composites

We ran another webinar just for UAS customers.

This webinar guides you through the following:

  • Creating a line and a fill type. We use these to create a building material and a composite. The emphasis is on creating specific attributes for a project rather than just using the standard ones. We then create a new surface and add this to our newly made composite.
  • An explanation is given of each example and we show how to put it into practice so users can see the work flow.
  • We also explain how these attributes can be moved from one project to another.
Attributes - Lines, Fills and Composites

Using the Navigator & Publishing

We ran a webinar for UAS customers that looked at one of the fundamentals of Archicad
– the effective use of the Navigator.

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Setting up the Views, Layouts and Publishing sets so that, as a user, you can concentrate on the development of the Building Model and then the published information will flow seamlessly from the model.
  • One of the keys is to ensure that your Views are set up correctly and consistently and that nobody ever uses the ‘Save View and Place on Layout command’!! Version 19 introduced the concept of ‘Tabs’ and you got to see how these can be used in conjunction with the Navigator.
  • Why you may want to use ‘Clone’ folders and the effective use of the Organiser and Drawing Manager as well as a quick review of the display of the Revision Management statuses in the Navigator.
Using the Navigator & Publishing
