The new OPEN BIM project mode

Access to precise object data is important for MEP designing in the context of BIM projects. This is why we have developed a pioneering product data technology for DDScad in recent years: the OPEN BIM project mode.

The previous DDScad version (DDScad 19) was already equipped with an experimental stage of this mode. For DDScad 20, the technology is now available in a mature state of development.

You can therefore choose between two powerful modes when creating a new project in DDScad 20: the classic mode, which has been tried and tested for many years, and the OPEN BIM mode, which offers more convenience and options in projects that are organized as a BIM process.

What characterizes the OPEN BIM mode?

The OPEN BIM mode is based on advanced product data technology. Compared to the classic DDScad product database, the product library contains significantly more comprehensive component information and provides new features. A wide range of properties and property sets can be added to the product data on this basis. This supports BIM managers in construction projects in complying with the component-related specifications from BIM execution plans and client information requirements. This makes the exchange between project participants smooth and convenient. The new OPEN BIM mode offers you the following advantages, among others:

Convenient product data management

Search-and-replace and filter functions

Assignment of object properties

Modified user interface and new functions

Which mode is for your project?

The decision for one of the two modes must be made as soon as you create a project. Your decision is fundamental, as it cannot be reversed during the course of the project. For this reason, we have provided detailed information in the DDScad 20 documentation to help you make a conscious and correct decision for your project.
