We consider Archicad to be one of the most powerful tools we use. BIMx gives us the ability to link the 3D and two-dimensional export. It can be a complex virtual model – but everything synchs. This technology excites me, because it affords us the ability to build the home virtually, and have the client fall in love with the design, and our concepts.

Especially with custom homes, there are a lot of changes and iterations. Jumping from program to program and making sure all the changes were made throughout was taking a lot of time. We’d investigated Revit and it just never felt right for the type of projects we were doing. It just seemed super heavy and intensive.
Once we started using Archicad, we saw improvements in the beginning during schematic design when we’re trying iterations and trying different concepts. When we make a change, we can easily slice through the model and see what it looks like in section, see what the impact in.

The ability to package and issue the entire building model as a single IFC file maintains the integrity of the information we’ve built into the model, providing the team with clearest and most comprehensive understanding of our design. Even though most consultants use unique and specialized software platforms, the communication never broke down thanks to the strength of Archicad’s IFC integration.

The powerful rendering engine in Archicad allowed for in depth material studies that greatly assisted us in working with the owner and interior designer. In the end, we impressed our client, refined the design in ways that we weren’t able to before, and never had to do a minute of work that didn’t contribute to the end result.
We did more in this project in terms of rendering and presentations directly within Archicad than we’d done in the past. We used renderings to evaluate different iterations for the lobby, the canopy, and lighting design. CineRender’s improved lighting effects also allowed us to study the exterior building illumination by rendering even the most challenging evening and dusk scenes extremely well.

What we love about using Archicad from the beginning of the design phase in any project is the fact that you get into it right away, and so you’re designing in 3D. We never need to switch from software one to another – this means we can start on the actual production software for the design. For this project, we could put in all the beams and the columns into Archicad and work around that early in the process, which was awesome.

We’ve been working with this particular team of engineers, who use Revit, with the IFC exchange for a couple years now. The working relationship has already had kinks worked out, as far as what type of settings to use when exporting Archicad out to IFC and how they set up Revit to accept our IFC model and export their model back out to us. When we receive the IFCs that have been exported from Revit, we rarely have any issues – it’s become a real seamless workflow.

Renderings take a lot of time and energy – so with BIMx we get a really smooth, efficient visualization process. BIMx allows us to, in an affordable way that doesn’t take us a lot of time, be able to go in and show someone a VR model on Google cardboard. I just did a field visit/presentation in West Virginia on a workforce housing project that we’re doing. We were able to present in VR and in augmented reality just boom, right out of the box. It’s really helpful to us.

…using Archicad and working in the cloud allowed us to collaborate with our in-house and project team members outside of California and internationally. Being able to work collaboratively and asynchronously was a big plus.

I upgraded from the best possible 2019 16" MacBook Pro to the latest and greatest 2023 16" M3 MacBook Pro. The M3 is amazing. I love how fast Archicad 27 runs on it, and the battery life is incredible. I measure houses and build Archicad models at the same time. With my old laptop, I couldn't go long on-site in Archicad with the computer unplugged. Now, with my M3, I can go for hours. It's incredible.

We can work with Revit MEP or Revit Structural or Revit Architectural… Archicad was made to be open and that's an important piece to us; and … when our engineers are using 2D, we work with Autocad. We have yet to find a file type that is problematic for us to work with.
David Grooms, Principal, Vega Architecture
Archicad works simultaneously with people in different locations in the same model. We saw reduced errors, no need to rebuild, and instances of the model crashing. Had we experienced those things, that would have made growth into new locations difficult.

Archicad is a great software for designing, communicating, and collaborating on projects. It has better tools than other programs and lets me easily work with complex models. I love bringing drawing sets on-site and showing them to others; BIMx is an awesome tool.

I think in using BIM, (owners) they have a much better understanding, one; of the design and what we're trying to accomplish; and they two; have a much better understanding of the amount of work that's going into these projects, of the pitfalls, or the potential concerns with a project.

Archicad is essential to our business model. The efficiency realized through the use of the software is the key to our firm’s ability to achieve successful project delivery, with the virtual building model serving as the perfect compliment to all phases of our process, from conceptual design through construction administration.
Ken Adler, AIA, Principal Architect KA Designworks, Inc
Throughout the design and documentation process, Archicad provides an effective format for the the integrated production of my work. From early stage design models, sketch renderings and seamless 2d and 3d construction documentation, this has been my go-to platform for more than 15 years.
Thor Arnold, Architect, Zimtor Architecture LLC
I carefully selected Archicad as our BIM platform for its intuitive interface, and continual leaps towards keeping the software on the cutting edge. Each release has delightful new features that make our job and collaboration with other professionals and our clients more seamless and efficient.

I've been working with Archicad for the past 5 years. I chose it at first because I wanted a MAC-platform based software, and needed an affordable option for starting up my own consulting business. Archicad's monthly rental options helped me to take on just a little at a time.

Whether it is large urban office building, multi-family residential building or boutique retail or restaurant practice, we visualize our project through 3D BIM process. After working with Archicad more than 20 years, the software is pretty much ingrained to our over all life cycle of the project.
