Basecamp 2020 logo

GRAPHISOFT Basecamp was designed to help graduating students get a head start on their careers, gain exposure to other cultures, and foster relationships with architects from around the world.

Built on a series of modules, the online program lasted for 5 weeks, and included live meetings with trainers, as well as open hours for questions and discussion. Students could watch the recorded sessions, complete the assignments, and study at their own pace offline. We learned how to launch and complete a project in Archicad by following a BIM-based workflow — from the kick-off to the final delivery of the revised construction documentation.

Before Basecamp, I was a basic user and in 5 weeks I became a professional user — that’s insane! I learned so much on this course, that I don’t think any other software offers such huge possibilities. But, as Einstein said, “The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know,” so there is much more to learn now!

One of the best experiences of my life! Basecamp helped me so much and I made a great group of friends from around the world.

I am really satisfied with this experience, with the knowledge acquired, working with my colleagues, mentors, and the Basecamp team in general. It was a great opportunity that every student should experience.

Practice makes perfect

Students were asked to put their fresh knowledge to the test on two different assignments.

Architectural Classics

Group assignments focused on learning Teamwork, modeling a building using BIM, and leveraging the information stored in each element.  Each team was assigned an architectural classic — buildings designed by world-famous architects that they modeled and documented in Archicad. We had the chance to explore different modeling strategies at different levels of detail to achieve the best and most effective result in the given time.

Pavilions

Individual assignments focused on what we love about architecture — the concept, the design, and creating something for people to use. Students were asked to design and model small pavilions in Graphisoft Park that can be easily assembled and dissembled on site. Each project was inspired by the style of the architect whose building their team modeled in their group assignments. Each pavilion has a simple function — farmers’ market stand, open-air stage, bar, chill zone, meeting area…for simpler, relaxing times in a busy office park.

Take a walk through the pavilions in this virtual exhibition!
